Here at Sparlings Farm, we have been rearing KellyBronze turkeys for 15 years. This has given us the chance to perfect our rearing process for this wonderful breed of turkey, which are viewed as being amongst the best tasting turkeys that money can buy.
First introduced to the UK in 1990, KellyBronze turkey are a specially bred variation of the traditional bronze turkey breed.
They grow much older than a normal bronze turkey, with the increased maturity helping to enhance the flavour and texture of the meat, as do the artisan processing methods that we use to prepare each bird.

All KellyBronze turkeys are reared outdoors on a huge swathe of farmland, giving them plenty of freedom to roam around as they grow. The growing process is a bit longer for KellyBronze turkeys, as they are bred to grow a much slower pace than other turkey breeds, with the birds roaming the farm for around six months prior to Christmas.
They are reared to grow naturally, with no drugs or growth promoters used to accelerate the process, while all the food they eat is GM-free and sourced locally. The turkeys are fed on a diet of cereal and vegetable proteins, which they absolutely love!
By allowing the turkey to mature slowly over a longer period, there is a higher concentration of fat and bone marrow come Christmas time.
These help to significantly enhance the flavour and texture of the meat during the cooking process, producing succulent turkey that produces ample amounts of natural juices, making it the perfect choice for your festive meal.
Moreover, the turkeys are free-range, so get to enjoy lots of freedom around the farm, living a stress free and happy life that we feel further improves the quality of the produce.
At Sparlings Farm, we only use traditional processing methods when preparing the turkey for consumption. Rather than using a massive machine to quickly pluck the birds, we prefer to do things by hand.
We take the time to carefully dry pluck every bird by hand inside of a chilled environment, helping to preserve the quality of the meat. After plucking, the birds are game hung for 14 days, during which they further mature, helping to significantly improve the flavour of the turkey.
There’s no automated machinery or artificial preservations used – we do things the just good old-fashioned way!
Once the turkeys are ready, we individually wrap each cut of meat to ensure freshness over the holiday period. Everything you need is included in the box, including complete cooking instructions and a meat thermometer to ensure it is cooked to perfection.
Cooking only takes around 2-3 hours in the oven and you don’t need to worry about basting or preparing a gravy, as the turkey produces lots of natural juices on its own. Use this for an incredible homemade turkey gravy!
